Can't design/preview/print reports in Access 2003 and it's not a printer problem...

I have a user that can't design/preview/print reports in Access 2003.

The only cause I've found here for this is not having a default
printer driver. She has printers installed and one is set as default
and all other apps can print to it fine (and it comes up as default).

Same with existing and new db's, existing and new reports. Just click
the preview/design button and cursor goes for hourglass for a second
and then back to arrow and report window never opens. Access doesn't
crash.

When run in an MDE, it gives an error on the OpenReport command (that
it was cancelled).

I've seen a lot of other reports of this error, but in all threads
where the poster confirmed a solution it was the default printer
issue.

Are there any other causes for this problem? Anything else I should
be investigating?

Thanks,

Sam

In an MDE???

You cannot open anything in design view in an MDE.

Other possible causes:
- You use Access security, and the user does not have permissions.
- The database is an Access 97 or older database that is opened in A2003
(not converted).

The MDE was what the user was using originally and how the problem
first surfaced as related to preview. As I mentioned we tested it in
MDB's and saw that design doesn't work either.

And it's all db's, not just one db. And they were all created in
Acess 2000 or later (test ones in 2003 still have same problem).

No access security on any of the databases.

The file is not read-only (properties in Windows explorer), or being opened
read-only?

Nope, I'm getting this also on brand new databases I just created and
added tables to, so it's definitely not read-only.

It's really weird 'cause the symptoms are exactly like the printer
problems discussed hear but I can print to the printer just fine from
other apps.

Have you tried changing the default printer? Maybe Access in this installaion
just does not like that print driver.
