Can't Delete Old User Folder for Changed Name

G

Guy

I changed the name associated with my user profile from [Firstname]
[Lastname] to [Firstname]. Later, I decided to change it back. Now, I
want to delete the subfolder named [Firstname] that was created in the
Documents and Settings folder when I made the first change, but
Windows XP Pro won't let me. The folder is empty, but I still can't
delete it.

Any help in getting rid of this crufty folder would be appreciated.

Hi Guy,

Try to remove it from the command line. Also open Task Manager (Ctrl +
Alt + Del) kill explorer.exe and then
rd name_of_folder /s

Afterwards open a new task --> Explorer.exe

Good luck

I deleted the folder from the command line, but when I rebooted
Windows recreated the folder. The folder was created when I changed
the name for my user profile. I changed the name back, but the folder
remains with nothing but an empty Programs subfolder.
