Hi

Some files, directories were corrupted by Philips/Nero/microsoft, resulting
in the following example of a file name: QIKT~0.EE

Windows XP doesn't recognise it, and trying to subs the correct letters
doesn't work either. Any ideas to recover or delete it? Thanks.

Format the hard drive.

Lunch was nice;

Mephitic porcupine cancer and seagull head topping gross with unwholesome
chef's pubic hairs and lemon extract adulterated on top of nasty gorilla
canker under decomposed whore's tit blisters and dwarf rabbit gizzard
vinaigrette, dished up in a steaming skillet with a slew of chilled whole
rutabaga and specks of green pepper in sour cream, a side of pepper chips
and a few ounces of thickened endive extract.

Try going to file, right click on it and remove tick that says read only
then try again

Nope, XP can't read anything about it, not attributes, size or date.

Format the hard drive.

Do me a favour: don't bother replying to any of my posts, you're just an
obnoxious waste of time.

Do all of us all a favor: don't bother asking for help if you just plan on
rejecting the only correct answer you're going to get. Either live with the
files or format the drive. Your choice.

You might want to try this . . . . . .

=============================

Delete - Can't Delete Files or Folders

Checkpoints/workarounds: Test the Delete after each suggestion.

Submitted by: Una: 9/2005

1) Log into Windows as another user.

2) Open Windows Explorer and navigate to: \Documents and
Settings\UserName <--user name with the bad files.

3) Go to Tools | Folder Options and click the View tab. Make sure all
settings that hide files are turned off. You want to make sure all
files are visible before the next step.

4) Move all the files in the Desktop folder to another location (well
all except the problem files...if those could be moved you wouldn't be
in this predicament!).

5) Open a command prompt and navigate to the above location.

6) Enter this command which deletes the Desktop folder and its
contents: "RD /S Desktop".

7) Create a new Desktop folder.

8) Move everything back.

9) Log off, then log in again as the original user.

Don't be so stupid. What he said was extreme and totally out of proportion
to the problem, esp since it was on the C drive. And just look at his sig.

You should post back when you finish formatting the drive to fix your
problem.

Where are these files? Are they on HD or on CDRW/DVDRW?

If they are on HD then you can delete them by going into SafeMode and
deleting them from there.

If they are on CDRW then you will need to format it using Roxio or Nero.
