Can't delete email from outbox, unknown error.

I have a friend who had a power bump.
He has an email stuck in his outbox, which says,
unknown error on deleting.

In reading this newsgroup, this should cure the problem?

I am not that familiar with xp, just trying to help out. From what I read
this should help regardless what box. I can delete from other folders in the
email.
thanks Bruce

That download usually works for such problems, if they are under Vista.
If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version,
try the 32-bit version first. It's labelled as for mail stuck in the
Outbox,
but also works in other folders.

No. That article does not apply to WindowsXP. Are you sure the friend is
using Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP? If so, here are the instructions for
Outlook Express 5 through 6:

Deleted Items is probably corrupt.
Go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder and see where OE is
storing its data files.
Close OE.
Go to the store folder with Windows Explorer and delete Deleted Items.dbx.
With Win2K, WinXP and Win2K3 it will be a hidden file.
OE will build a new one when you reopen it.

If Deleted Items has messages you want to keep, instead of deleting it move
(not copy) it to an empty Windows folder. Then use DBXtract on the old
Deleted Items.dbx.
DBXtract ($7): http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/
You can drag the recovered messages from the Windows folder back into an OE
folder in the Folder List in an open OE.

hi
Sorry, I may not have been clear enough.
He is using Vista, as far as I know 32bit.
It is call windows mail or something like that,
just trying to help him out.
He called Dell, I think they gave him the same fix.
Hopefully this will cure the problem, he does have a virus program, not sure
of the name
thanks
