Can't create new files or folders

On my XP pro machine I cannot create new files or folders. Every time
i right click and try to go to New, or from windows explorer File -
New. My system appears to hang, npthing responds from the start menu
or task bar. The the only way to get my machine working again is go
into task manager and close down the explorer.exe process... does
anyone know how i can sort this out because its very annoying!

Maybe this? I'm not sure what Hotbar Kelly's article is referring to.

Cheers for that guys, ive narrowed it down to it only happens when im
on my company network, when i use my laptop off line then it is
fine..... I will try that link you suggested elmo and let you know

Right tried those reg keys still no joy and yes i have the K-lite
codec pack installed... but surely that can cause this problem
