Can't create dialer demon?

Hi all,

When I go to "create new connection" in networking I eventually
come to the page that identifies whether it is a dialup connection
]or a broadband connection. At that point the dialup type
connection is greyed out. I can choose the broadband connection
but I want to create a dialup icon that I can click on and have the
modem start dialing. The modem is installed correctly, hyperterm
works correctly with the modem and I can have it dial and get a
connection but the "create a new connection" can't find/see the
modem and therefore grays out that choice. Why? How do I
get the create a new connection to work properly? when the
modem is installed, the driver is installed and hyperterm works
on it ok? What am I missing?

thanks,
charles.....

Charles,

This problem is reported here occasionally. It's generally caused by
misapplication of a system update, or improper rollback to a system restore
point.

Thanks for the response. I will try to do the reinstall SP2 thing and if
that
doesn't work I'll probably just do a reload from scratch after I save all
the
data off the machine. I would like to see M$ fix this as this isn't the
first
time I have run accross this. Come to think of it, I think I just did a
reload
last time too. I think last time it involved a restore process too.

later,
charles....
