Can't copy user profiles...

Jonathan Telep

Hi, just learned how to copy profiles for different domain
users so that they can all use the same profile (in the
event that they have to change domains.) Now I have a
problem though, when ever I want to change them from one
domain to another, under "User Profiles" it lists the
account I need changed as "Unknown" and the "Copy To"
option is grayed out. I know part of it is because the
local workstation may belong to a different domain but if
profiles are stored locally on the workstation then why
would this be? Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can
get all of the profiles to show up regardless of what
domain the workstation does or doesn't belong to? I
managed to get this to work on 2K workstation but XP is
being completely uncooperative.

Thanks,

Jon

Jonathan,

The copy to feature requires you to have a trust set up to the domain that
the profile belongs to. Otherwise, it will show up as unknown and not let
you copy it. If the original domain still exists, creating a trust between
the current domain and the original domain should resolve the problem.

I hope this helps.
