I bought a new computer. I tried to move all my files to the new computer
by copying the folders and files to a CD. When I move the CD into the new
computer and I try to copy them, windows says I can't because they are read
only. All my files on my original hard disk do not have read only
attributes.
In My Computer, I highlighted seweral folders in the My Documents folder,
clicked copy from the tasks pane on the left, a window opened, I selected
the CD ROM drive, it copied them and a balloon opened at the bottom of the
screen that said 'You have files waiting to be written to the CD' I clicked
the balloon and was taken to the CD Drive(D
I clicked Write these files to
CD and the Windows CD writing wizard popped up and I followed it to
completion.
When I Go back in the Read Only box is checked at the bottom of the General
tab in the Properties Window. This has been inserted during the copy process
(and I guess Windows does it) and cannot be removed. The original files are
not checked.
Thanks Bill

Hi Bill,
A file with Read-only attributes will allow you to copy them. Maybe
something else is causing this. Make sure you're not using Cut instead
of Copy.
You're probably not going to be able to "delete" files from a CD-RW.
What you have to do is to "erase" the disk. There should be an option
to do this in your CD burning software. Let us know if you're still
