Can't connect to my old computer using the parrallel port

I'm having trouble creating a direct connection to my old computer using a file-transfer cable in the parrallel ports. When I try to connect, I get the following message: Error 771: The connection attempt failed because the network is busy

Given that I don't have a network, I'm wondering what could be causing the error. Is there a specific service that needs to be running in XP? My old computer is running WIndows 98SE. Is there a network setting I need to make sure is active

Thanks for your help.

Ok - I've figure out how to connect my two computers (my old computer didn't have the direct cable connection program loaded)

So now, how do I see the files on the other computer? I've tried locating them in Windows Explorer (on both computers) but don't see any files. The connection is definately running - I just can't seem to do anything over the connection
My new computer is the guest; my old computer is the host.
