Can't connect to internet

I ran a Registry fixer program and now cannot connect to the internet. I did
not save old directory info. I've tried to utilize several restore points,
but the restores have benn unsuccessful...the message says "system not
restored".
 
did u try to uninstal and install again your modem or the hardware that you
connect with ?
