Can't Clear My IE History

[Plagued by History]

I have been carefully following the "Clear History"
procedure from the Internet Tools section of the Tools
menu on the Toolbar, and yet if I click on the Histroy
icon in the toolbar, I am immediately shown all the
History that should have just cleared. Can anyone help
me?

Hello,
you can delete the History folder itself. On Y2k,XP It is accessible as
<SystemRoot>:\Documents and Settings\<UserAccount>\Local Settings\History.

With no IE windows open, try it from Control Panel> Internet Options>
General> Clear History.

You might need to delete the damaged History folder- a new one will be
created on restart.

History folder in Windows 9x,2K, XP.

Another program might be locking your history.

You may have to do it with all IE windows closed.
Use the Control Panel's Internet Options applet
or just Run... (e.g. press Win-R and enter
control inetcpl.cpl
Certain virus scanners are also known to interfere with the
normal operation of the History folder so shut them down too
if necessary.
