When sending a new message or replying, there is the paragraph emblem or icon
in my text just a head of my typing and a dot between each word. I hit the
icon in the toolbar, to stop it and it does nothing. Have looked to see if
toolbar is locked and can't find it. How do I get this off my email messages?

Click the Pilchrow mark (¶) on the Toolbar of Word to turn the formatting
marks off or click 'Tools|Options' and on the View tab, uncheck the
formatting marks you don't want to see.
