Can't change power settings

When I try to change my Power settings, I am told that Access is denied.
(If I work as Administrator, it works OK.)
I have tried the Control Panel and the powercfg program and neither works.

I have not tried to change the registry, I do not know how and besides,
the Policies entry is so long I can not see all of it on my screen:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/AppEvents/Control Panel/PowerCfg/PowerPolicies/0
(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)
Description REG_SZ This scheme is suited ...
Name REG_SZ Home/Office Desk
Policies REG_BINARY 01 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 ...

What can I do?
Is there some file I can change ownership on?

That said it all Andy, you are not logged as Admin. Your account is limited
or enforced some restrictions on how and what it does on that account!

You have the question and the answer in the same time. You can't enforce
regsitry changes while in a Limited account, but you can give the limited
user the right to do so through the admin account by chnaging the Policies.


What about right click on the registry key and select permissions>>

Warning: Always Backup the Registry before editing and also create a Restore

Only Administrators, users that are in the Administrators group, or
users that are in the Power Users group can change this.

Does the user that is getting this message belong to one of those
groups?

It is possible for an Administrator to add a regular user(s) access to
the folder of interest in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Controls
Folder\PowerCfg

Right click the folder, Permissions and add away...

Thanks but I checked the registry and I already have Ownership and Full
Control
on the Registry entries.
