Can't change folders icons

Hello,

Now i can't change my folders icons

Before, when i explore a folder, I had large yellow icons, and if there were
pictures in this folder, 4 preview in this large icon.

Now, icons are smaller, and impossible to have the 4 previews or any picture
selected in the personalize menu.

When a create a new folder, and I personalize it, a file is created :
"Desktop.ini". In this file, only one line ! : "[.ShellClassInfo]"

On old folder, there isn't the "Desktop.ini" file.

Yes, i use "Trumbnails"
The spaces for icons are larger
But icons are the same than "Mosaique" (option under Trumbnails)
Just exept icons for pictures files (preview instead icon)

Maybe I don't understand your problem but try this:

1. With the 'Thumbnails' view set, right-click any folder that shows the 'standard' icon.
2. Select Properties and click Customize.
3. Press Choose Picture button and select any picture you have.
4. Click Apply and OK.

If the picture is not shown, explore the folder, delete the Thumbs.db file and try again.

If the problem persists, read this article:

Image does not appear in thumbnail view after removing Office

Yes, i think you understand me ;-)

1) right-clic ok
2) Customize ok
3) Choose picture not effective
In the preview box, there is no change
There is a large yellow icon, but in the "thumbnails" view I have a
different small one.
4) Click "Apply" and "OK" close the customize window but no change

I tried to delete Thumbs.db file and try again

I have office 2003 SP2 and try the
"Image does not appear in thumbnail view after removing Office" TIPS
Registry key were used by AcdSee 6 (not installed)
Reboot
But no change :-(

I installed RAWViewerSetupLite this summer (I remove it today to try this way)
I installed AcdSee 8 Trial recently

Mmm... I see. Open Notepad, copy and paste this text and save it as a REG file. Combine the REG file by double-clicking it, click Yes when XP asks you and press Enter:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{3F30C968-480A-4C6C-862D-EFC0897BB84B}]
@="GDI+ file thumbnail extractor"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{3F30C968-480A-4C6C-862D-EFC0897BB84B}\InprocServer32]
@="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\shimgvw.dll"
"ThreadingModel"="Apartment"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{3F30C968-480A-4C6C-862D-EFC0897BB84B}\ProgID]
@="Shell.ThumbnailExtract.GdiPlus.1"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{3F30C968-480A-4C6C-862D-EFC0897BB84B}\VersionIndependentProgID]
@="Shell.ThumbnailExtract.GdiPlus.1"

Note: If your XP is NOT installed on C drive, modify the line @="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\shimgvw.dll" accordingly.

After that, open Start, Run, type without quotes 'regsvr32 shimgvw.dll' and click OK. A dialog box will appear, hit Enter and check if the problem has been resolved.

You are aware that typing
regsvr32 shimgvw

that you suggest adds the registry entries you suggest adding manually. There is no need to type that AND add the keys by hand. One or the other.

I tried to access these folders by a second computer.
In opening, icons were like the first computer, small yellow folder.
But in 2 seconds, each icon became big and 4 preview were draw about the
pictures in this folder.
I can customize this folder by a personal picture.
All change doesn't affect the first computer which serves these files.

1) It's not a corrupt folder or file problem in there folder.
2) Seem come from tasks in explorer when it explore folder.
3) May be the emplacement where folder data (for customize) is broken.

(I tried my Office Word corrections for your comfort ;-)
