Can't change folder from read only

I need to share a folder for others to connect to and
have them work on material from that folder however, they
can't work on anything because everthing is read only.
I've tried to uncheck the read only box under properties
only to open it back up and see that it has changed back
to read only. What's up with that? Why will it not allow
others to work from that folder and how do I change it so
they can?

Try checking folder permissions. (If you don't know how, open Help and
Support, and type "view folder permissions", in the Search box.) If you're
sharing the folder over a network, check Shared Folder settings. I'm new
around here, but I think folder permissions and shared folder settings will
override what you're trying to do with the check box.

The fact that you didn't get a response for over 2 hours might indicate you
came to the wrong newsgroup. For problems related to basic use of Windows
(e.g. problems with Read Only check boxes), try using the Windows Basics
newsgroup.
