Yes, I was messing around on the web where I shouldn't and I got
infected with some nasty stuff. Spent 6 hours getting nearly
everything working again. However, my wallpaper is now stuck on a blue
screen with a big black box saying how I have spyware. Well, the
spyware is all gone, but I don't know how to get back to my original
wallpaper. All of my options are frozen, so I suspect something in a
configuration file or win.ini file, but I don't know enough to un-stick
my wallpaper options. I have Windows XP.

Thanks,
mindeng

Today, I searched several other threads, and I believe I can find what I
need from other posts. However, it looks like there is a major rift
between several people regarding this very subject (Tom Jones, pcbutt1,
and others) so I will just bow out gracefully. I don't want to stir the
pot again.

Thanks,
mindeng

Found out I was infected with spy sherrif. There is a post from David
H. Lipman under the thread Spy Sherrif that explains exactly how to fix
the problem. The only addition left out of his post is that you have to
run "GetFiles.BAT" BEFORE you run "clean.bat". You can pick that up if
you study the .pdf file that comes with the fix. Worked like a champ!

I have my original wallpaper back.

thing anywhere - I am not sure what is wrong with my computer. It also has
two icons on the desktop for each icon. Any ideas on that? Can someone email
me with Spy Sherif thing possibly? (e-mail address removed)
thanks
