My regular work pc got hit with a power glitch and nothig I do seems to
repair the original software hive.
I was able to restore an old one from 2 years ago in the repair directory
and now it boots. The problem is
I realy need the software from the original working hive which is over 17
megs. i have tried installing
cpoies shotened with a hex editor-- no luck.. is there anything i can do to
fix the large hive. I have it backed
up after the crash. ( I imaged the drive) the hardware seems solid been up 2
months on the repair hive
but several things a re broken, no msinstaller, office is gone.. all data is
intact though..

any ideas?

TIA

the system hive would be ok. i only had to replace the software hive from
the repair directory.. is there any way to repair the damaged one?
I have replaced only the software hive though repair console. I also ran the
modified registry repair tool from
MS (6 floppies) it says cant fix then done..

thanks in advance.. I would really like to get this machine back to the way
it was..

I was afraid of that, is there any utility that can read and manipulate a
hive? seems like a handy tool if there is..
then i could fix the old one and replace the small repair one with something
close but better..
