Can't add new emoticons

For a few weeks now I haven't been able to add new emoticons to my list,
either when I try to copy them from my contacts or add them directly from my
files. Always get the same message: "The file you selected is not a valid
image file. Please choose another file."

No idea what you are talking about. What software are you using?
