can't access Word docs not in mydocuments

I just updated Windows XP home and Office because of one or the other or
both, I can no longer access Word documents that I have stored on the C drive
in various directories. When I try to open a file, I can click on desktop
but when I click on the name of my C drive, I get frozen. I COULD do this
before! I have many inportant documents that I now must use WordPerfect to
access. Please help! I use this for my work many times a day.

Please repost your question in a WindowsXP Home newsgroup. It appears
to be a Windows problem (perhaps with security on your folders?); it's
certainly not a Microsoft Access issue (the subject of this
newsgroup).
