Can't access the internet

When I try to run Internet Explorer or Outlook (or several other programs that require the internet), nothing gets out of my home network. This used to work. I can connect to other computers on my network. I have tested my hub, router and DSL modem. All the other computers have no problems accessing the internet. I have run System File Checker, Defrag, Virus Scan (most current) and Ad-aware (most current). I have updated the bios and network drivers. I have even removed the network adapter and re-installed it. These programs won't connect if I use a dial up connection either. I have heard from other people with the same problem that it was a virus, but I haven't found one. They still can't access the internet either. I am running Windows XP Home edition on a HP Pavilion laptop. What am I missing? Any ideas?

Sounds like the Browsers been hijacked. If Ad-aware didn't
find anything, try Spybot. Usually between the two, they
can find all the nasties. Make sure you have the Status
Bar active, watch when you put in a web address. See if
it's routing it through some strange web site. Also, make
sure you're getting DNS resolution. Try putting in an IP
address and see if you get there.

Well, I downloaded Spybot, and it found several things that Ad-aware did not, but I still don't have internet access with any of my software. Also, I can ping my router, but can't access it by inputting its IP for maintenance. I can from my other computers.

Well, I have done this. Plus, I ran WinXPFix. This solved the problem. However, a day later, everything was running fine, then all of a sudden, I have no IP. No I can get my laptop to connect to my network and share files, but no internet connection again. When I run Internet Explorer connection setup, it won't let me use my LAN connection to share files and connect to the Internet. I didn't used to be this way before the problems started.

You said "No I can get my laptop to connect..."
Should this have been NOW I can...?

Is WinXPFix the same as this one?

I'm not familiar with LAN some one else may give you direction.
First I would look at all my local setting for sharing files. They may have
been changed by the fix.

If you have been reinfected I suggest you look at this article.
Tools are suggested against intruders.

"So how did I get infected in the first place?"

Yes, "now".
I've since gotten my laptop to connect to the internet and my other PCs, but I can't connect with dial-up when I'm on the road. I can dial in and connect, but IE doesn't connect. Also, after doing so, I can't get back on my network at home.
