Can't access system bios

Hello. I am having a problem on my friends Compaq Presario 5070. Windows XP pro. 384 pc100 memory.New WD 60g. HD.Cd-rom & CD-writer. We have been trying to access bios for some time now. With no luck.At start up it shows the Compaq logo.A large cursor on the right top corner.Then a normal cursor on the left upper corner. I have tried del.,alt-control-esc.,F7,F8. I do go into safe mode when I press F8. I have done these processes at various times at many boots. Please help. I will repeat any step more than once to achieve some results. Oh yeah. I cleared cmos. And will repeat if I have to. Thank you

I think compaq is F10, at least the desktop pro we used at work are.hope

Anyone else out there think there should be a
standardized "BIOS" key on every keyboard?
