My new computer running XP-Pro networks fine from itself
to the outside world. I can browse, share files on other
computers, telnet, etc. and all is good. However,
nothing else can access this computer. Other machines
(on the LAN) can't ping it, though I can ping them. They
can't see my shares, much less access them. My Tivo
can't the the Tivo publisher on the Win-XP box (which
shares music and photos via the Tivo home media option).
I've unchecked the ICF - it's disabled. I've shared the
folders. There is an administrator password. Ifconfig
tells me the address, gateway, mask, etc. are reasonable
and correct and that the node type is "hybrid" (is that
OK?). I don't think I've got another firewall running,
though I am running PC-Cillin as a virus checker.
What should I try next?
