My computer cannot access the internet, either thorugh
Internet Explorer or other apps (Real Player, AOL msgr
etc.) IE just shows 'Window Cannot Be Displayed'. In
MSDOS I can ping my IP address and DNS server just fine,
but ping takes no time-'0 ms' for each packet.
Everything is set to automatically detect settings, no
proxy server.

Do you honestly expect an answer when you post anonymously and completely
fail to mention what method you use to connect to the internet (dialup,
cable, dsl?)? Either you failed to properly configure your internet
connection or you have an overly aggressive firewall blocking it.
