I have a wireless network set up at home, and have recently added a new
computer to it. This new computer is unable to access the internet through
the router, all other computers on the network can. I have only had this
problem since upgrading Windows on the new computer to XP Pro with service
pack 2 installed, before this it was on a basic install of Windows XP Pro and
worked fine. I can access the configuration page for my router using a
browser, so it seems likely that it is connected to the network, and I know
that it is my network since there are no other wireless networks in the area.
I have tried changing the MTU settings but that hasn't worked, please can
someone help me with this problem.

Can you ping a public IP? if yes, can you ping yahoo.com? This troubleshooting may help,

It is possible to ping a puplic IP, but not a web address (it can ping
64.233.183.103 but not google.com). I think that the DNS settings are correct
in so far as the DNS server addresses are the same as on other computers that
can access the internet. I tried to use the troubleshooting you suggested but
couldn't find anything that worked.

assuming you can ping a public IP, posting the result of nslookup here may help.

Post an ipconfig /all from a working computer and from this non-working
computer (unedited, and label which is which).

Ok, the ipconfig /all for one of the working computers looks like this:

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name: Laptop
Primary DNS Suffix:
Node Type: Unknown
Ip Routing Enabled: No
WINS Proxy Enabled: No
DNS Suffix Search List: Belkin

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix: Belkin
Description: Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter
Physical Address: 00-14-A4-55-19-7F
Dhcp Enabled: Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled: Yes
IP Address: 192.168.2.3
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1
DHCP Server: 192.168.2.1
DNS Servers: 194.168.8.100 186.68.21.13
Lease Obtained: 20 August 2006 18:55:09
Lease Expires: 19 January 2038 04:14:07

The computer that doesn't work looks like this:

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name: Laston
Primary DNS Suffix:
Node Type: Unknown
IP Routing Enabled: No
WINS Proxy Enabled: No

Ethernet Adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
Description: Belkin Wireless 54mbps Desktop Adapter
Physical Address: 00-11-50-1C-26-21
Dhcp Enabled: No
IP Address: 192.168.2.4
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1
DNS Servers: 194.168.8.100 186.68.21.13

I know that I do not have DHCP enabled on the non-working computer, but it
will not even connect to the network with it enabled, I get a limited or no
connectivity warning.

As for nslookup it says the same thing on both the working computers and the
non-working one:
Default Server: cache2.ntli.net
Address: 194.168.8.100

Thanks for all your help so far, I hope you can sort out this problem for me.

If you can't get a DHCP-configured address, try reinstalling your NIC
driver - download/run Winsockfix from a trusted source (I use the
majorgeeks.com one) and see if you can get that running. It indicates a
larger problem.
