Hi All,

I have a problem that someone may be able to help with. I
have a home network with two computers; a laptop running
XP Pro, and a desktop running XP Home. Each computer can
see folders on the other computer when the folders have
been set to share.

However, the laptop cannot download some folders or files
from the desktop even when the laptop can see the files on
the desktop, and the files or folders on the desktop have
the netweork and security properties set to SHARE and to
CHANGE (Windows Explorer, Properties, Sharing and
Security, Sharing).

I propably have some setting wrong. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance,

Craig

Craig,

my first thought is that you have Simple File Sharing disabled
on the XP Pro computer and some of the files and folders do not
have sufficient access rights for Everyone or Guest or Guests.

Note that each file and each folder needs the rights. An Windows
XP Home computer always acesses other computers as Guest, and
therefore these settings are needed.

Please have a look at http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm for
detailed troubleshooting information.
