Can't access computer in My Network place

Both are recent/fresh installs of XP Home (Sp1) with all
the recent updates installed, connected through a
cross-over cable . The LAN
connections dont have firewall on either machine. NetBIOS
is enabled on both. These services Computer Browser,
Server and Workstation are running

Can ping each other from either machine too.
When trying to access the Workgroup I get the
error "Mshome is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions. The list of servers for this
workgroup is not currently available." I am logged in as
administrator on both machines! I have tried logging in
with identical accounts on both simultaneously and with
different accounts, still the same.

When I use the netstat command on either machine I can
see a connection established from the other machine (can
see both the IP--using the -n option--and the machine
name, so there the machines are obviously recognizing
each other. Why can't I see them in my Network Places
though or access the workgroup.

Anybody can help ?!

..

run the Home network Wizard on both of them , and make sure that the Group Names on both Computers are the same .
u can use for example \\ipaddress to access the shares of the other pc .
\\192.168.0.1

yours Moo .

Problem solved already. Just install IPX protocol on the
WIN XP (both machines) and u will be able to access each
other.
