Hi, I have a brand new Compaq Presario SR1239UK and a Canon MV20i PAL digital
video comcorder. I have read elsewhere that there is a problem in Windows
Movie Maker that means it thinks that this is a NTSC device when it is infact
a PAL device.

But in addittion to that the picture capture is unviewable, it is so torn
that you can not make out what the video is meant to represent.

Are there any fixes to this?
Is the problem with windows? or with the camera. Although I doubt the later
as it works well with my Philips DVD recorder.

any help would be very gratefully recieved as we have a new baby and of
course want to record all of the first things that it does.

Hello,

I have an earlier Canon and have none of the problems you describe...I'm in
the UK.

Are you connecting the camera via the Firewire link or are you using the
USB link. USB is meant to be used for the stills only...you need a firewire
connection to capture digital video.
