Canon Mp830- best dpi/settings for archiving documents (8x10s)?

Can anyone comment on what I think are the best settings for this:

Program wise:

MP Navigator vs Presto Pagemanager:

I found that MP Navigator with Descreen, Unsharpen, (all checkboxes
checked) and 400 DPI resulted in a better, less blury image (using
ADF) than Pagemanager did (it was more blurry, I tried using Unsharp
on, descreen off, low settings on the other 2 in Presto).

400dpi doesnt look a ton better than 300, but it was sharper, while
600 wasnt extremely better either..

Settings also included greyscale b&w etc..

These are invoices being saved for possible future printing..

Thanks

I should add that I was doing the tests with output files being
PDFs(low compression), probably not the most accurate way to compare
(vs Tiffs) but this is how it was being done.

Thanks
