I've had the MP760 for about three months, and it works very nice. Colors
I see on the screen have been colors that print out. I've never done color
management because I'm generally satisfied with what prints out. I have
read articles and threads in the past on color profiles, but I've never had
the need to do such tedious (and possibly expensive) tweaks. I may now.
I recently changed all cartridges (OEM), including yellow, and installed a
different (ViewSonic A90).
Using the MP760 scanner, I placed a cd on the platten and scanned in the
label (a graphic) using the Sure Thing CD Labeler application. The colors
on the label were medium red lettering with a medium yellow background. My
monitor displayed the red and yellow fairly well, although a little
brighter than actual. The print out red was more brown, and the print out
yellow was also more brown, almost a mustard color.
I decided to try to match my monitor's color profile to the MP760's color
profile. The MP760 gives six color profiles:
CNB6hCA0
CNB6hCB0
CNB6hDB0
CNB6hEB0
CNB6hED0
CNBJPRN2 (default)
I went to my monitor's (listed as Default Plug and Play) color profiles,
and there were none set; I have not installed the ViewSonic drivers since
the monitor plugged and played, but I will do that tomorrow. I hit the ADD
profiles button, and a long list of ICM's and ICC's appeared. All of the
above MP760 profiles were listed, but when I tried to add them, I was told
I couldn't because it was a printer color profile and could not be
associated with a monitor. I always thought that you were supposed to
match the printer profile with the monitor profile. Am I mistaken?
Also, is there a scanner profile for the MP760? I can't find it if there
is.
Thanks
