I need to remove the cover of the 9900 to recover inks. A replacement
printer has already arrived, but our old one will not power up so we cannot
move the print carriage.

Any assistance is appreciated...we are hoping to not have to take it to a
service center.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Try to take the cover off the machine. The answer somewhat depends on
what you will be doing with the old printer. If it is scrap, you can
carefully pry it open or cut it open. These things are tough when you
want to get into them. Wear gloves if you bust it up so you don't get
cut. Usually, a big screwdriver and some work will get to it.
