canon i865 wont print grey

Canon i865 wont print grey so I'm guessing one of the two black
cartridges is blocked because it still prints black ok
has anybody had this problem before and give me some hope/solution
before i get a new printhead (£60 to £70 ouch) I could get a new
printer for that price but I want the ability to print on to CD/DVD

I have used cleaning cartridges in both black slots and left them in
overnight but no avail
Not a great fan of trying unblock printheads due to my lack of success
and the mess it can make
tried printing out a test print from
http://www.misterinkjet.com/images/testprint.jpg after setting the
printer to grey scale but apart from the black it all came out shades
of green

Any help greatly appreciated
P.S Printer only 18 mths old running windows XP home edition with SP2

What results do you see when printing the nozzle check from the maintenance
tab? From the description you provided it looks like you have a cartridge
which isn't feeding enough ink, not a defective printhead.
