Canon i560 ink tank problem

Howdy, I have a Canon i560 that all of a sudden is refusing to print
black. Period. I just replaced the ink tank, too. I have cleaned the
print head by soaking it in a 50-50 solution of distilled water and
ammonia for a coule of hours. Then flushing it with distilled water
and blowing it dry with an air compressor (very low psi). It still
won't print. I took the tank back out and the white pad inside the
print head is still white! I pushed a Q-tip up into the spong on the
tank and I got some ink. I tapped the cartridge on the work bench top,
gently, and got a few spots of ink. Could the cartridge be at fault
here and not the print head?? If so, what do I need to do about it?

I've run the deep cleaning on the black cartridge about twenty times
and the ink still looks full in the tank. So I think that there is no
ink comming from it at all. HELP! Thank you.

While the cartridge could be at fault, as in the vent holes are being
plugged, printheads do have a limited life before burnout. While there
is a technique involving cleaner such as windex or your ammonia on
folded toilet paper, pushing softly and pulling quickly to help work
the solution in the event you do have a serious clog... it's probally
time to consider a new head or a new printer. IIRC the i560 is like
the i850 and ip3000 using the QY6-0042. I think it's currently
fetching $50ish on places like ebay. A ip4200 is fetching $80ish at
places like newegg and amazon.com. IIRC this printer was out late
2003, so a run of a couple of years isn't bad.

you need to trot down to you favorite store and buy an ip5200. for some
reason i never see that model at staples only the ip4200 that is cheaper
and slower.
