Hi all,

is there any 3rd party manfacturer around which got a reasonable Magenta
replacement ink for Canon's iP4200/5200/... printers?

Someone claimed recently that no one cares to print different labels on
different bottles, assuming that it's the same ink everywhere.

I just had a look for a newer InkTec version, which still is the common
C8050 type (replacement for BCI-5, BCI-6 and CLI-8). AFAIK this will
work ok for Yellow and Cyan, while Magenta is different.

From InkTec I see that they have loads of different colors. Here's a
sample of Magenta:

Light Magenta:

C8050 Canon BCI-5PM/6PM
H5058 HP C6658A

Magenta:

C6031 Canon BCI-3M/3eM
C6032 Canon BCI-3PM/3ePM
C8050 Canon BCI-5M/6M
C8405 Canon BC-05
C8422 Canon BC-22
H2043 HP C4843A
H3028 HP C8728A
H5057 HP C6657A
H8425 HP51625A
H8449 HP51649A
H8610 HP C5010A
H8623 HP C1823A, C6625A
H8640 HP51640M
H8641 HP51641A
H9078 HP C6578A

L1990 Lexmark 12A1990

This should be an obvious proof that some companies put different
labels on their bottles. InkTec offers different sizes, such as
20 ml (-20M: around $2-3),
100 ml (-100, $8),
250 ml (-250, $12-15),
1000 ml (-01L, $50) or
20 000 ml (-20L).

Prices are estimations based on Euro-prices. The order number is
composed from printer company (C = Canon), color id, ink size and color type,
such as "C8050-20LM" for 20 litres of the BCI-6M replacement.

One might argue that it's always the same ink, just using different
stickers. I doubt so.

But the question remains: Is there any company with good replacemnt
magenta?

I see many 3rd party cartridges by now, which offer all colors. The
cartridges are unchipped - you have to take the chip from an original
cart. and put it on the replacement part. AFAIK you'll loose the
full/empty status for this cartridge. But I wonder whether those sets
have a reasonable Magenta within.

THERE ARE NOT 3RD PARTY MFG THAT SELL ANY INK TO CONSUMERS EXCEPT FOR LYSON

YOU NEVER KNOW BECAUSE THE RELABELERS DO NOT DISCLOSE WHAT THEY ARE SELLING
