Canon camera software is amongst the most reliable in XP. It has to be
installed properly. The canon software/driver *must* be installed
*before* the camera is connected to the computer the first time.
Failing to follow this instruction, clearly enumerated in the Canon
installation instructions, will provide a failed camera installation.
