I just acquired a Canon NK-300 Portable kit for my BJC-85 printer and
would like to obtain an instruction booklet on the battery pack. I
cannot locate a download source. Does anyone haveany suggestion as
where to find a manual?

Thanks

Jerry-

If the kit came with a manual, I can't find it. Have you looked in the
BJC-85 manual to see if it has instructions for the NK-300?

Basicly, you attach the NK-300 to the back of your BJC-85 and plug the
printer's power cord into the back of the NK-300. A light labled "CHARGE"
flashes while the battery is charging, and glows continuously after it
reaches full capacity.

To the right of that light is another light labled "REFRESH". Below it is
a recessed button that can be activated with an un-bent paper clip or a
pencil tip. When activated, the refresh light flashes and the battery is
discharged completely to overcome the NiCD Memory effect. When the
battery has been discharged, the charge light flashes until the battery
has been recharged again.

If you use the NK-300 frequently, and only recharge after the battery runs
down, then you would never need to use the refresh procedure. It is for
occasional use when the battery is normally kept topped-off and never gets
close to discharge.

Naturally you remove the power cord when using the NK-300 for portable
operation! One thing to take note of, is that when the BJC-85 cover is
open, it trips a small switch located on the NK-300, above the connector
that plugs into the printer. As I recall, when this switch is tripped it
will slowly run the battery down even if the printer is turned off.
Therefore, close the printer cover when not in use.

Jerry-

After posting the above, I dug out the NK-300 and proceded to discharge
and recharge the battery. It seems that the flashing CHARGE light went
out when it had finished charging, rather than staying on.
