Cannot View Workgroups

When I open "My Network Places" and then try to open "View Workgroups" the
compputer HANGS UP! I am using WIN XP Prof. Can someone who has knowledge
of this situation give me asssistance to correct this problem.

I have a small network with four compurters connected through a router and
the other computers can view the workgroup, but not this one!

If the machine locks-up completely, I would be inclined to think this has to
do with a faulty LAN card, or bad driver.

The lock up is "not responding" in view workgroups and the computer that is
this subject does not show either!

One more thing I neglected to mention is that "sometimes" with a new boot, I
can View Workgroup Comourter, as was the case when I booted this morning.

I will try a reinstall of the drivers for the lan card, but I still do not
understand why I cannot see this computer and still have internet service!

What is the connection between the bad card or bad drivers and the inability
to view workgroup computers?
