Cannot View Work Group \ Network Computers

I am running windows XP media edition 2005. This computer is hard wired to a
router. I have two other wireless computers. All can access the internet.
Searched other posts and found some ideas, but done solved problem to date.

I cannot view the work group \ network from the base computer. I get the
following messsage when I try to view the workgroup: "Networkname" is not
accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.
Contact the administrator of this server to find oiut if you have permission.
The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.

==the remote units can see this computer in the network, but not access.
==I can ping the base unit from the other to units.
==using start\run\\"other cpu in work group name" I can access and view
via windows explorer the files on this computers.
==I have both turn off and disabled from starting up ZoneAlarm, with no luck
==I have not tried to enter the ip addresses of the remote comoputers into
ZA, but do not thing this is the issue, but will try.

=tried MS article 318030 with no luck(turning on netbios over TCP/IP and
broser service

Danny,

This is a well known problem, which can have any of several causes. Start with
my tutorial please, and provide the request diagnostic information.

Note ZA, even if disabled, might well be part of the problem!

Thanks for the quick response. I whole hardly agree, Zone Alarms has spent
much of my time over the past few years!

Here is what I found. First, it does not appear as if he Computer Broswer
Service is starting. It is set to automatic, but when I check, it has not
started. I can manually start, but it does not solve the issue.

Here is the result from browstat status after manually starting the browser:

If you'll reread the articles, you'll notice that its says 2 things:
# Diagnostics from 2 (or 3, if you have 3) computers is much more useful.
# Don't munge or alter the output.

Now the browser stopping is noticed when there's a firewall causing problems, or
when the Windows Firewall service has been stopped. Make sure that the WF / ICS
service is running. If necessary, un install Zone Alarm, and use instructions
from Zone Labs, don't just run the un install wizard.

Got it fixed! as follows

I took off from your idea of enabling windows firewall. I first went to ZA
and toggled the disable WFW to off. I next tried to enable WFW, with no
luck. I was getting the following error message that included: windows
firewall error 10047.

A search found a solution to a potential fix caused by microsoft spyware
disabling WFW. I had to manually reset the operating system default LSP. I
remember one time MSW asking to delete what appeared to be itself.
