I am having the same problem. I can't view pictures on
the majority of the webpages. They just show up as
placeholders. I ended up going into add/remove programs
and double clicking on IE6 and having to go back to a
previous version. The problem with that is, then I can't
open attachments to my emails in Outlook Express. What do
I do? I can view my websites with the previous version
and I can see my email attachments with IE6, but I can't
see everything with one version. The OE problem says:
C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\YOC4APJ4
\Fwd_[Fwd_
And the error says: This file does not have a program
associated with it for performing this action. Create an
association in My Computer by clicking View and the
clicking Folder Options.
The problem is, nothing comes up to associate the email
with.
HELP!!!!!! this is driving me crazy.
Thanks for any help that is out there.

Sounds like more than one problem involved here. Have you tried to purging the TIF cache folder?

Here's how to purge the cache manually:

From the IE menu, click on Tools > Internet Options. In the General tab
click on the Delete Files in the Temporary Internet files section. You'll be
presented with an option to delete the offline content as well...that helps
also.

If you want to have this done automatically and your surfing habits are such
that you do not need to reuse the existing files in the TIF folders, you can
configure IE to purge the files whenever IE is closed. To implement this
feature, click on Tools>Internet Options>Advanced [tab]. Scroll down the
Settings to the Security section and enable "Empty Temporary Internet Files
folder when browser is closed".

Enabling this setting does not affect cookies nor does it delete the offline
content.

Regarding the images in IE, see if this article is of any help:

Pictures Are Not Displayed on Web Sites in Internet Explorer

If you're running IE6 SP1 and you can't access any attachments, try this in OE:

Click on Tools > Options > Security [tab]. Under Virus Protection section, uncheck "Do not allow attachments.....", then click on the Apply & OK buttons.
