Cannot Uninstall or Upgrade .NET 1.1

Although I have ploughed through the newgroups and the Web, I cannot
find a solution to uninstalling or upgrading the .NET 1.1 framework
installed on W2K Server (SP4). The option suggested the most to repair
the .NET framework:

dotnetfx.exe /t:%temp% /c:"msiexec.exe /fvecms %temp%\netfx.msi"

Doesn't work in my case, and it still errors with the 'Internal Error
2711.S867460" message.

I'm it the stage now where I can't get any of the .NET sites to work, I
keep getting "Server Application Unavailable" so I would just like to
completely uninstall the framework and start again.

Can anyone shed a different view on how to solve this problem? /ALL/
possibilities will be accepted with gratitude!

Thanks in advance
