cannot turn on spell checker in windows mail

John

My problem is that the spelling dialog box does not have either an "OK"
button or an "Apply" button. So, even when I select the "check spelling
before sending" box, and try and change the language selection, it does not
apply, and if I close the dialog box and reopen it my selectlon is gone. I
get the same error message. I wonder if I have to reinstall Vista, since
Mail is part of Vista.

Gary writes, and it does work
Don
Click Tools/Options/Spelling Tab. In the language dropdown select
another language & click 'Apply'. Reselect your language, click apply
and ok. Should work.

I have no doubt it does, but my problem is that I do not see a "apply" or a
"ok" button in the dialog box and hence cannot fully complete the task of
selection

The Apply/OK buttons are at the very bottom of that window. Are you
seeing the bottom edge of that window? Your screen resolution may
be set too low. Ty hitting Tab a couple of times to see if it will tab down
to those buttons.

Gary, thank you, thank you. It worked. I have not quite figured it out yet,
but when I auto-hid my taskbar, the Apply/OK button turned up and I was able
to get the spell cheker turned on following your instructions. I truly
appreciate your fast and correct response.

A final note Gary. I deselected the "keep the taskbar on top of other
windows". This solved my problem.

You're very welcome.
It sounds like your screen resolution should be set a little higher, so
you will see more of the dialog box.

Interesting. Then I don't know why that dialog box extends down
so low for you.
