I am using Win XP Pro. I have 4 user accounts on my computer, one for
each member for my family, thus I frequently used the fast user
switching function. However, recently I am unable to switch user
anymore. Whenever I clicked on the button, I do not get any response at
all, Windows just run as if I never tried switching user at all. Normal
logout is fine, but this problem has been bugging me. Can somebody
please help me? My computer has P3 1GHZ, 256 mb RAM and 40GB hard disk.
My computer is not connected to any network except for my broadband
internet access.

The function may have been disabled!

To enable Fast User Switching, you must also enable the Use the Welcome
screen option. This feature cannot be used if your computer is a member of a
domain. To enable Fast User Switching:
1. Log on to the computer as an administrator.
2. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
3. Click Change the way users log on or off.
4. If it is not already selected, click to select the Use the Welcome screen
check box.
I repeat: the Use Fast User Switching check box is unavailable until you
click to select the Use the Welcome screen check box.
5. Click to select the Use Fast User Switching check box, and then click
Apply Options.

Quit the User Accounts tool.

All should be back to as it was before for you.

Fast User Switching is already enabled in my computer. The problem is
that it does not work anymore. No response at all!
