Cannot Sne/receive with Windows Mail

I just got up and running with Vista and Windows Mail, but cannot
send/receive mail. I use Verizon DSL and am sure I have entered my the user
name and p-word correctly, but repeatedly get asked for that info. If I hit
cancel, I get error: Account: 'verizon.net', Server:
'incoming.verizon.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH]
Authentication failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error:
0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

See if this leads you to useful instructions:

Also, Windows Mail has a quirk that often makes it forget the
password if you put a checkmark before Remember password,
and then in the same session, click Apply. To correct this,
start Windows Mail, then click on Tools, then Accounts,
then the affected email account, then Properties, then Servers.
If there is no checkmark in the box before Remember password,
click on this box, then OK, then Close, then shut down Windows
Mail and start this procedure again. If there is a checkmark in
that box, leave it alone so you can use the Apply button safely.
Click at the end of the dots for the password, backspace over
them, then type the correct password, then click Apply, then
OK, then Close.
