My incoming mail works; however, I receive the following error message
whenever, I try to send an email. How do I correct this? Thanks!

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject
'registration', Account: 'pop.netzero.com', Server: 'smtp.netzero.com',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '450 smtpout05.dca.untd.com Authentication
required', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 450, Error Number:
0x800CCC78

I've had the same problem several times. I'm not sure what causes it but this
is what i have to do to fix mine. buy the the way I have two seperate
accounts in my windows mail. first go tools and click on the account button.
a internet accounts box should pop up. click on your net zero account then
click properties. this should bring up a netzero properties box. write down
all the info you have intered under each tab IE: (general, server, etc.).
when finished click ok to close property box. then back at the internet
accounts box click on net zero account and then click remove. click on close.
Hit the send and recieve button a box should pop up asking you if you would
like to send your email with your default service provider. click yes or OK.
this should send all your emails. after this is done add you netzero
account back on by going through tools, accounts, add. put all the info you
wrote down for your net zero account. this is what i had to do. I hope this
will help.

Contact NetZero for the proper settings (e.g., Outgoing mailserver requires
authentication).

Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
The box for "My server requires authentication" must be checked.
