Cannot Send Faxes? Help Please.

G

Guest

I have vista Ultimate OEM.
I bought a new software modem, Sweex MO001 internal fax modem for
compatability. Downloaded and installed the 32bit vista drivers from Sweex.
The modem and fax and scan software can receive faxes. but cannot send them.
Each attempted fax send immediately fails, status as RETRIES EXCEEED.
Extended staus: Fatal error.

Any help would be eagerly received.
Thanks,
e

Doesn't help me a bit. But if your modem is on the VHCL, it will help you
when you open a support incident with your OEM.

Erm? so that means what exactly?
That mean that the said modem is not supported by vista, and that i should
report this to the pc maker?
Problem being, is that the pc maker only had external modems in the set up,
so i bought this one independently. Was only £9 Sterling, and was the only
cheap fax modem, i could find with so called vista 32 bit drivers. (that do
not seem to work?)

Thanks,
e

OEM means that your Original Equipment Manufacturer is responsible for your
support, not Microsoft (under the terms of your licensing agreement). If the
modem you purchased is not on the VHCL, then you have no recourse with
either your OEM or Microsoft. If it is, then you have recourse with your
OEM.

Responsible? Im not looking to blame anyone.
I was just hoping for some advice.
And i thankyou for yours.
It means i do not have to spend days kicking it around trying to get the
thing to work which i now discover is gonna fail with the current drivers.
I will just have to wait until a Cheapo internal modem is released that
actually supports vista.
Thanks for the help.
e

p.s- know anything about xp to vista peer to peer networks? (i know wrong
section!) :)

VHCL = Vista Hardware Compatibility List where you can check if your
hardware is VISTA compatible.

I'm not sure that many software modems (aka WINMODEMS) are VISTA
compatible.
