Cannot send emails

I have moved and changed email services. All my efforts to change the
default servers for window mail to my new email address have failed. I keep
getting an authentication error message referring to my old email adress and
saying it does not recognize it, which of course it will not as I no longer
use that email address or server. I have deleted the old account and added
the new one in windows mail but that has not helped. I still cannot send
emails through widows mail. Can anyone tell me what I need to do as this is
driving me crazy.

Have you also changed internet providers, and if so, have you properly also
set up the connection to the new internet provider?

For your problem, click on the Outbox and try moving any messages you
find there to the Drafts folder or deleting them. If any refuse to do
either,
download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

If you'd like to see a translation of the description of this hotfix to some
other language first, click on the triangle under Article Translations, then
the language you want, then the arrow to the right of the triangle.
Although
it's labelled as for stuck messages in the Outbox, it also works in other
folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version of Vista or
a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first. The Vista
SP1
update includes this hotfix and more, but takes linger to install.

Such stuck messages are often due to interference from an antivirus
program. What if any antivirus programs do you have?

I have 14 emails sitting in the outbox. How do I get them to go? The last
time any mail went was 5/17

Click on the Outbox, then each of the messages you find there. If any of
them
show an error message instead of a message you tried to send, move it to the
Drafts folder or delete it. If it refuses to do either, download and
install this
hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

If this doesn't cure your problem when you restart Windows Mail, send
yourself a short message. If this causes any error messages, right click on
them and copy them to your next message.

Also, if you need more help, what if any antivirus programs do you have?
Some of them cause problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

What happens when you try to send? Any error message? If so,
copy it and post it here.

If it says "Unknown error" try this:
First you need to determine if those messages are 'stuck' in the Outbox.
Move as many of those messages as you can to the Drafts folder.
If one or more can't be moved or deleted, apply the Microsoft fix:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090
