Cannot Search Inbox

Outlook 2007. When I try to search my Inbox for mail that has particular
keywords, I always come back with "No matches found for '<whatever I searched
for>'" The things I am searching for are in the Inbox, they are simply not
being found. Search worked under Outlook 2003. What might be wrong with my
setup? Thanks for any help.

I went into Outlook>Tools>Options>Search Options and unchecked the two boxes
that were being indexed. I exited Outlook, came back in, and it now returns
results for my search. Still would like to know why the indexing made the
search always return no results.
