Cannot run "regedit", due to Memory Access Violation error

I am in the process of uninstalling Norton Personal
Firewall and Systemworks, using instructions from
Symantec. I successfully removed the software, but now I
need to edit the registry to delete certain Symantec
registry keys.

When I attempt to run "regedit", I get the following error
message, and cannot proceed:
"Memory access voliation in module kernal32 at
2152:22227418".

Any ideas? ....Fred S.

Try running this clean-up utility:

How to use the Norton SystemWorks cleanup utility (SymClean)

Nicholas, I run the NSW cleanup utility, and it said there
was nothing on my computer to remove, and that I should be
ready to re-install the Norton apps. I'll try, and see
what happens. The reason I uninstalled in the first
place, is that that I could no longer start the Norton
apps due to a "memory access violation" error. Part of
the instruction from the Norton tech was to seek help from
MS.
