Cannot resize window

I cannot resize the Word window -- I can minimize it or
maximize it, but when I try to resize it the icon in the
right hand corner changes, but no arrows show up when I
put the cursor in any of the four corners to resize. I had
this problem before and found that the normal.dot file
sometimes causes this problem so I deleted it, but this
isn't correcting the problem this time.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

With the window maximized, click on the middle icon (Restore). Then you can
click the window borders to resize it. Once you have it like you want,
click the "middle icon again (now says maximize). It returns to full
screen. Click the "Restore" once more and it return to how you resized it
earlier.

I probably didn't articulate well enough (not knowing the
proper names for icons). Your response is how it "should"
work... but it isn't working. When I click on the restore
icon, the borders should be resizable, but they're not.
Usually the cursor will change to a double headed arrow or
something similar, but it doesn't and won't allow resizing.

Just out of curiosity, try this to see what happens:

Open at least one more program besides Word, right-click on the taskbar at
the bottom of your screen and click "Cascade Windows". See if you can now
grab the Title bar of each window and resize the Word window. Other than
that, I don't have any other ideas. I search the Microsoft Knowledge base
and didn't see anything specific.

By the way, which version of Word and Windows are you using?
