Cannot resize comments with Autofilter on

We have a large worksheet in Excel 2000 with Autofilter on and lots of cell
comments. Frequently but not always when editing a comment it will not resize
using the handles. We have to remove Autofilter, resize comment and reinstate
Autofilter, which is a pain?

Any suggestions?

I've never seen this.

Can you resize the comments if you only do a Data|filter|show all?

(maybe it'll save you a step.)

And (it might help the next responder), is the comment in the header row or in
the data.

Do you have Window|freeze panes turned on?

(I don't have a guess no matter what your answers are--but maybe someone will!)

Yes we can resize comments by setting the Autofilter to Show All rather than
turning it off again. This keeps the Comment open and visible which saves
several steps and has vastly improved the speed of operation (although has
not cured the problem).

The comments are in the data and not the header.
