SP1a installed. I've had the Index feature of Help go out on me before. Last
time I fixed it by copy-pasting a new version of the file hhctrl.ocx from
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386
to
C:\Windows\system\32
The problem has again reappeared but now there must be a different cause
than before because the version of hhctrl.ocx is current.
Help and Support Service is running.
I discovered that the file Windows\System32\winhlp32.exe was not current,
but replacing the old file with a current one from
Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 did not fix the problem.
When I try to reinstall Windows\inf\pchealth.inf by right-clicking on that
file, the reinstallation eventually fails because at least two .cab files
cannot be found on the SP1 CD or anywhere on the HDD. The two known problem
files during the reinstallation of pchealth.inf include hscxpsp1.cab and
hscmui.cab
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
